Manual Arc And Gas Welding
The Welding Technician Level 5 course enables trainees to acquire competencies to carry out various welding processes, including various gas welding techniques: manual metal arc welding, shielded metal arc-welding processes such as Micro-wire Inert Gas (MIG) welding, Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). The course covers the fundamentals of oxy-fuel welding techniques for welding in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead), electrode and filler rod selection, welding drawing codes as well as health and safety practices. In addition, trainees will be taught basic business management skills for entrepreneurship, communication skills and digital literacy, thus increasing their competitiveness in the welding industry. The entry requirement is a KCSE mean grade of D+, or Level 3 certification in the same area.
